Ice Apparition II
From a series of paintings that focus on the underwater portion of icebergs, studying the quality of light, color, shadow, and reflections in inky blue-black water. Many of these paintings straddle representation and abstraction; they delight in color and form while teasing out the hidden mass of the icebergs. This painting was created after an artist residency sailing in Greenland, on a small bright orange boat called Knut.
