This playful trompe l'oeil is a facsimile of my sketchbook from the MaréMotrice artist residency in Greenland, summer 2023. It depicts the town of Kûngmit, perched above a fjord with towering mountains beyond. Kûngmit (like many towns in the area, there are many spellings) is much more exposed than Tasiilaq (tucked into a bay) and Tiniteqilâq (literally hidden). Founded in 1915, there are about 250 people living here on a peninsula in Angmagssalik Fjord. The major flight path over Greenland seems to go right over it, with kids playing on the sloping playground below. *Ideally purchased with "Kûngmit 1," though you are welcome to purchase them individually*
